Liberty Hardy is an uncluttered Velocireader, writer, Bitey Mad Lady and tattoos. The return includes books, books and books. Her favorite exclamation is “Holy Cats!” Liberty reads more than it should be legal, sleeping very little, often writes on her belly with Sharpi markers, and when she dies, she leaves her body in library science. Until then, she lives with her three cats, Milay, Faroh and Zevon in Maine. She’s right behind you. I’m just kidding! She is too busy reading.

I am a big fan of children’s picture books, although I am no longer the target audience. My favorite picture book, when I was little, was bread and sweet for Francis from Russell Hoban and Lillian Hoban, for a vain little badger.

“Francis didn’t eat her egg. She sang a little song. She sang the song very softly:” I don’t like the way you slide, I don’t like your soft inside, I don’t like you many ways and I could do for many days without eggs. “” It’s still my favorite part of this book.

And this is what I love in picture books. They are great when you need a break from everything. It doesn’t matter how old you are! You can pick up a muttering monkey or frightened squirrel and get lost in a few minutes. (Or maybe long -I read them faster than when I was five, so I don’t know.)

I personally like books with pictures with very bright cartoon illustrations and tons of stupidity. And so I decided to share five of my favorite pictures I read recently. The next time you need a baby shower gift, miss a good night, moon (no insult, Margaret wise brown) and take one of them!

Cover a dog against strawberry by Nelly Buchet and Andrea ZuilCover a dog against strawberry by Nelly Buchet and Andrea Zuil

Dog vs. Strawberry by Nelly Buchet and Andrea Zuel

Basset hound decides that it will cause a strawberry of a race. (This is probably the only kind of race I could win, tbh.) There was nonsense! I am a big fan of every book that Andrea Zuel does, whether he writes and illustrates them or simply contributes to the work of art. My favorite is sweet and business pig.

The cafe at the end of the forest from Mikey, please

Mikey Wloe is a BAFTA Award and Director of Animation, nominated for an Oscar. This is his debut picture book, for a cafe that opens in a forest -like fairy tale, and how Rene and Glambut try to please their first client, a very difficult fire. Renee has to find replacements for the demands of Orel, because there is no way for her to put bats and mice in her menu!

The baby who remained awake forever from Sandra Salsbury

“In the light of the moon, a little baby was lying fast. It’s with my hands, my favorite 2025 painting book. I’m not lying, I read it at least 50 times. It’s so funny! It’s about a baby who won’t fall asleep, no matter what her family tries. I love him so much.

The bear turtle makes a friend from Bob Shee

Bob Shea has written a very wonderfully stupid picture book (Dinosaur against bedtime, Unicorn thinks it’s quite great), but this may be the most delusional. It’s about a turtle that puts a bear suit and tries to convince another turtle that he is really a bear. My favorite part is his little small head peeking from the bear’s suit (which you can see on the cover.)

Pinecon coating! by Helen YonPinecon coating! by Helen Yon

Anecone! by Helen Yon

Last but not least, my favorite 2024 picture book! As the family dog drags a young girl’s father around their yard, she lifts pinecons from the ground. She finds more and more pins, and her collection grows and eventually brings them inside the house where chaos occurs. It is so charming and the illustrations are both fun and beautiful.

To finish, I have some more recommendations for a picture book! This week is the cheerful pastel of Pastel from Marcus Cutler, and be careful about the attention of falling iguanas by the award -winning author Edwidj Danintit and illustrated by Rachel Moss, coming out in July. (And unrelated: Do you remember a curious George no tail? Most people don’t. This is the effect of the Mandela for animated monkeys!)

Okay, star bits, now take the knowledge you have learned today and use it forever, not evil. If you want to know more about books, I’m talking about books, almost nonstop (when I don’t read them) and you can hear me say many adjectives to them in the podcast br All the books! Both Bluesky and Instagram.
