When I read a book that really affects me, it’s hard for me to review it. This is one of these books. There is so much to absorb this one.

In a nutshell, this is a book about marked people – not only physically but also emotionally or both. It’s about your own value and acceptance.

As a young boy, Michael was critically wounded in an incident with fireworks. He bears scars for the rest of his life. While in college, he decides to make a documentary about marked people. He realizes (as well as the reader) that almost everyone carries some marks. And everyone is dealing with them differently. With the help of an incredibly kind and intuitive instructor, Michael makes the impactful documentary.

This book really makes me think. Catherine Ryan Hyde has the opportunity to pull the reader straight into history. She chooses intensive topics to write about. And she writes about them in depth.

This book will remain with me for a very long time.

What I came out of the book: Live life without excuses, unless I really owe it.
The book will explain.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy of Advance Chees.
