A memory of the death of Andrew Tuiddale’s interview

A memory of the death of Andrew Tuiddale’s interview

1) Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get involved in writing?

I started my work life as a cook and after 6 years I went to the university as a mature student to read law. I worked as a criminal lawyer between 1992 and 1994 and then worked as an international construction lawyer until April 2022. I went into writing in 1995 when my wife came home one day and told me that she had signed us to write a book on the arbitration law. I wrote two arbitration textbooks with her and in 2004 I decided to write something more interesting and started in my first novel, Of all religions, there are none. When I gave up the law in 2022, I published this book and started on my second novel, Memory of deathS

2) What inspired you to write your book?

I visited Castle Drogo about twenty years ago. The work began at the castle in 1911, but was delayed by the First World War. The owner, Sir Julius Drew, lost one of his sons in the war and decided that this would be the perfect place to put the anti -war novel.

I was wondering why Sir Julius wanted to build a castle in the first place, what symbolized him and how he should feel so that your child could die in the war. I also wondered what the architect Edwin Lutiens made to design a Norman-style castle with all the mod-Cons and how society looks at this nonsense. In my last book, Memory of death, The Drew family has to live with the loss suffered during World War I, and the book is about life with grief and loss of love.

3) What topic or message do you hope that readers will take away your book?

The main topics of Memory of death are love, loss and restrictions on society. All these topics are part of human state and relationships. These are the books that endure the test of time, because the topics of love, loss and social restrictions are as relevant now as a hundred or two hundred years ago.

4) What attracted you to this particular genre?

After deciding to write an anti -war novel based on Castle Drogo, the genre chose itself.

5) If you could sit with a character in your book, what would you ask them and why?

One of the characters that appears in Of all religions and no and Memory of death is called Jiddu Krishnamurtti. Krishnamurti is a real person who describes Time magazine as one of the five saints of the 20th century. In 1910, Theosophilic society believed that it would be the vehicle to carry the spirit of the world teacher (ie Messiah). In 1922, he rejected this idea and returned the wealth, gave him by the words: “The truth is without a path of land.” I would ask him if he thinks the whole religion is wrong, as it seems to me that in order to understand “life”, you cannot limit yourself to following an individual religion or path.

6) Which social media site was most useful in the development of your readership?

Facebook is probably the most useful because of the Facebook advertisement facility, which allows a writer to launch readers with interests in similar books.

7) What advice would you give for an aspiration or just start authors there?

There is an old saying that if you want to be a writer, write. It’s true. Sit five days a week and write.

8) What does the future offer you to you? Any new books/projects on the horizon?

The third book in the Castle Drogo series will be out at the end of the year or early next year. The first project of my new novel, Only breath and shade is finished and I am at the stage where I edit it. Then I intend to rest from the Drogo Castle series and start a project for the Battle of the Imgin River and the stand of glorious glow. I’m not sure what’s next, even though I have two more ideas for novels in the Castle Drogo series and maybe a play.

For the author

Andrew worked as a cook, a lawyer and is now an author.

“Of all the religions, there is no Andrew’s first novel published in 2022, and tells the history of the family of Drew and Lutien in the last years before World War I. The novel is focused around Drogo Castle, the last large castle to be built in England. The castle is in a modern world and its construction reflects the turmoil of times. Most importantly, however, the novel is a romance in which relations are broken by a relentless war. Andrew’s second novel “Memory of Death” takes the story from 1917 to 1955 and deals with Basil Drew and Ceria Lutien and their relationship during the most dark moments of modern history. Andrew is currently writing a third novel in the Castle Drogo series, which hopes to be published in 2026.
