Thanks to an increase in distance work and the use of Saas Reliance Enterprise applications in the browsers is increasing, but this leaves them open to risks arising from the dangerous behavior of employees online.

According to an online security expert on the Nordlayer network security platform, some employee activities that may not be detected by security teams may result in the leakage of confidential data and industry secrets or GDP violations.

“Companies are embracing Internet -based programs as a SaAS service for various benefits, such as cost reduction and increased efficiency. However, due to increasing dependence, the browser is becoming an important concern for internet security,” says Nordlayer’s Andrius Buinovskis. “In addition to attracting the attention of criminals online, it has also become a center for internal threats or employee mistake, which may result in devastating security violations. The most worrying element is the lack of observation security teams may have in the activity of the browser, creating a alarm blind spot.”

One of the main risks from the use of the browser is data extension, where poorly targeted employees can use the browser’s limited observation to steal confidential information of the company. There is also a risk that unauthorized browser will be installed, some of which are malicious and prey to users who do not suspect to collect sensitive data, modify the browser’s behavior and create security weaknesses.

Shadow is also an issue, not all Saas Internet-based Saas applications are safe to use-some can have significant security weaknesses, resulting in data leakage or compliance violations. Without proper monitoring, these applications can be undiscovered, expanding the field of uncontrolled applications.

The absence of the observer and the analytics of the traditional browser’s behavior makes it easier for malicious employees to fly under the radar and enter into sensitive data or talk to third parties.

“Traditional browsers have not been built with certainty and observation in the mind-their main objective is to provide a user-friendly interface. These skills are more or less enough for personal use, but are inappropriate to protect a business,” Buinovskis adds. “Even if a company has an extensive online security strategy and a large team of security experts available to them, the lack of integrated security and monitoring features in a traditional browser still leaves them tangible and more likely to experience a security incident.”
