The original trilogy of war gears in Xbox 360 introduced us to the world of Sera, Delta Squad, and a crowd threatening to wipe humanity from the map. Since then, exclusivity has increased to include sequel, preaching and interstitials that are not even in the original genre. This makes it not so different from playing Halo games in order. You can adhere to playing only number games in order, but any game with war gears in its name (except one) is important for the story, especially Gears of War: E-day. Unlike the doom games, which have a lot of lore but keep it driven to the side, the history in Gears is a large part of what makes these games more than just a thoughtless shooter. We have been Roadie running with Marcus since 2006 and we will give you a complete division of how to play the whole series in the order of release and in chronologically.
All war games in the order of omission

Gears of War was one of the most impressive Xbox 360 games we would have seen at the time, and was ready to become a great exclusivity. We received three main games from the epic games of the original developer before surrendering to the coalition, but some other teams have also contributed to the Gears. If you are interested in starting with the series now, playing in the order of release is not the worst way to do it. Thanks for reassessing the original game as War gears: Recharge, Returning to the earliest game is easier than ever. However, this just clashing the order of issuing more if it would come depending on the numbers to lead you, especially when the exclusivity is reprinted for simply “Gears ” for a while.
To try the Gears saga as it was originally stated, not including any recovery or remaster, here is the official order of issuance:
- War gears (2006)
- War gears 2 (2008)
- War gears 3 (2011)
- War gears: Judgment (2013)
- War gears 4 (2016)
- Gears 5 (2019)
- Pop gears! (2019)
- Tactics of gears (2020)
- Gears of War: E-day (TBD)
All war games in chronological order

You can assume for sure that the numbered notes follow each other in a linear order, but what about all those non-number notes? These are especially interesting and add many qualities to Lore, not only because they exhibit characters except Marcus, but fit into unexplained parts of the time limit. Playing the series in chronological order can be the best experience possible as the main games throw you into the world with little context to understand things during many games. Knowing what’s going on, how you got there, and what events led to that point makes your emotional beats much harder.
The only game you should ignore to play the games in chronological mode is Pop gears !, But otherwise, follow this ranking of the game:
Note: Time of gear time is marked years before the day of the show (EU) or after the day of the show (AE)
- Gears of War: E-day (0 be)
- War gears: Judgment (0 ae)
- Tactics of gears (1 ae)
- Gears of War/ Gears of War: Restarted (14 ae)
- War gears 2 (14 ae)
- War gears 3 (17 AE)
- War gears 4 (42 AE)
- Gears 5 (42 AE)
