Former District K employee accused of heavy batteries against manager

Staff report

Gainesville, a 33-year-old man, Jerrell Johnson, was arrested yesterday, facing charges of aggravated batteries and property damage. This follows an incident where he allegedly injured a district K manager and damaged two computer monitors during a dispute over his discharge.

On the morning of May 2, around 6:35 pm, Johnson is said to have visited the location of the K district at 4030 SW 13th Street to talk to the manager in her office. He is said to have asked him to reconsider his conclusion, explaining that he owned to steal items from the store and insisted that he had not thought of doing so. The manager reportedly stressed that despite his claims of responsibility, he had never offset the store for the items he inadvertently received.

Johnson allegedly aggravated, began hitting computer monitors at the manager’s table, and then pulled the victim out of her chair, resulting in her to fall on the ground and hit her head. Another confrontation is reported to have taken place in the hallway, where Johnson allegedly hit the victim several times before moving it to a strong object and giving a handful that made him collapse on the floor.

The Alachua District Sheriff reported that he watched the supervision video at the manager’s office after the IT staff brought another computer monitor; The video reports that Johnson, standing behind the victim’s chair around 6:35 am, has no audio, but the victim appears to be frustrated with Johnson and returns to her computer work while Johnson continues to talk to her.

A few minutes later, Johnson can be seen hitting the computer in front of the victim, completely destroying it. The victim pushes behind, and Johnson is suspected of hits the second monitor of the computer, destroying it, and then grasps the victim’s chair and advises it. He briefly stands on him as she starts it, then he leaves the task.

The victim can be seen by throwing a trash bin toward the office door, then she follows Johnson under the room. The MP noted that the video did not show what happened in the hall and only their shoes could be seen, but the victim could be seen falling into a fan and later falling to the ground. The victim then barricades herself inside her office while Johnson tries to push the door open, but she manages to close the door, ending the incident.

The cost estimated to repair the damage reached about $ 850, and the victim, whose ear was snapped, lost her salaries for the day because she had to go to the emergency room and was unable to complete her change.

Because Johnson left the store before the MP arrived, the MP spoke with Johnson by phone, and Johnson reportedly admitted he had damaged the store computers after being fired. He is also reported to admit that he had removed the victim from her chair, but claimed he was acting in self -defense after she came to him after he damaged the computers. The MP noted that Johnson’s statements were not supported by the video rehearsals.

Johnson is charged with aggravated batteries and property damage. He has no local criminal history, but there are some arrests in Hillsborough district and at least one crime and a misdemeanor. Judge George Wright decided to release at $ 80,000.

Items for arrests are based on reports by law enforcement agencies. The charges listed were taken from the arrest report and/or court data and are only charges. All suspects are innocent until they are proven guilty in a law court.
