Book cover

Sosenko, a journalist and former magazine editor, centers this memoir on his body. She was born with the Congenital Disorder Syndrome of Klipel-Tranunay. “I am one of the lucky ones,” she writes, “but I live in a body that is significantly, apparently different from most. On my back there is a tissue hypertrophy that makes it gigantic, bumped, bad and not much back. As a child Sosenko, he has woke up to the Author, to learn that the doctors have also done cosmetic Operations: “I left a Frankenstein monster, just incomplete.” Now, in her 40s, she includes countless stories about people, including strangers, commenting on her appearance. Head titles include “It’s a good idea to let the bastards take you down, just come back when you can (hate this).” In 2023, after obsessively diets from 26 to 38 age, Sosenko began to take drugs from weight loss, although he felt guilty of this: “I believe in fat liberation…. I want to not want to be smaller.” One chapter examines her complex relationship with her mother, while another describes in detail a failed romance, closing with the revelation that “being happily single is not a last resort, but fucking Rad.” In another chapter, she says she spends $ 78,000 on clothes for six months. “Wear things that make you feel fucking spectacular,” she concludes, “because you are.” The book includes additional fiery insights like this: “If the world is not intended for you or acceptance by you or is subject to you, it is the fault of the world.” The author’s focus on himself can sometimes be tired, but her enthusiasm never diminishes.
