Interview with author KT Anglehart

Interview with author KT Anglehart

1) Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get involved in writing?

I’m writing from school! At first I was inspired by television – I thought, And I can be fun. One year I won a storytelling contest and then I realized that I love that I love writing stories, but not presentation them. Since then, I have always been choosing colleges and university programs that have helped me to improve my craft and teach me how to take a blow (figuratively speaking). I have declared Wise My thesis for the MFA and this became the first official book I published.

2) What inspired you to write your book?

It’s hard to answer. I have always loved all the things of the watches and the magic. I grew up a huge Harry Potter and Fascinated Fan! One day I imagined a witch who did not understand who she was and felt excluded from everyone around her. Then I saw her traveling through the British Isles to find her birth mother – and herself – until I learned that she was the key to the saving of the natural world, with the cost of billions of people and destroying it (I love a good moral dilemma). This gave me the perfect excuse to visit Ireland and Scotland and to breathe as much pages life as possible, binding on their folklore and natural beauty. So, I guess it was really a culmination of many things …

3) What topic or message do you hope that readers will take away from your book?

My first reviewer said so perfectly that at that time he led me to tears: “Don’t be a thug, love is love, protects our beautiful planet, accept your mistakes, family comes first and love your friends unconditionally.” -Sarah Bell, Rainbow reviewer.

4) What attracted you to this particular genre?

I have always loved the idea that magic can be found in the real world. There is something harmless about traveling for young adults – finding yourself, running what you consider to be your boundaries and surprise yourself along the way. And honestly … Who doesn’t love good prophecy?

5) If you could sit with a character in your book, what would you ask them and why?

Although I have the feeling that I have already asked my main character McKena, all I need, I still would like to say: What the hell did you think, flying with a stranger in Ireland? Sometimes even the author cannot fully explain the wild choice of his character!

6) Which social media site was most useful in the development of your readership?

I’m not a lot of a person on social media, but Instagram connects me with some really wonderful readers and fellow authors. This has become a place where I can share my world and meet others who also love it.

7) What advice would you give to ambitious or just startup authors there?

Enjoy the romantic writing phase when you fall in love with your history and everything feels possible. And when this honeymoon phase is over (because it always does it), remember: everything is related to the process of perfectionism. Continue.

8) What is the future for you? Any new books/projects on the horizon?

The final installment of Thehe Scottish scrolls Trilogy is heading to my editor at the end of this month, with the publication planned for 2025! Then … of course, there are more stories. Writers never stop imagining what’s next.
