Jeep just drew coils from the new Compass EV, and while it is an exciting dance in the future electric, there is a capture-may not make it in the US at any time soon.
This is a new Electric version of Jeep Compass, and being built on the Stla platform of Stellantis-the same architecture that supports models like the E-3008 and E-5008-runs much softer and packs much more than previous versions of the compass.
Let’s start with what is delightful: the new Compass EV is packing up to 404 miles a single load, a 74 kwh battery and fast load that takes you from 20% to 80% to about 30 minutes. Not bad for a compact SUV with the symbol of Jeep on the nose.
There are two versions: a front -wheel drive model with 213 horsepower and a better version with all 375 horsepower wheels. This AWD configuration is not only for the views-it can handle 20% trend even without front pull, and comes with additional land cleaning and better off-road angles. In short, it’s still a jeep.
The design is also refreshed, and inside you will find the type of technology and comfort you will expect in a modern EV – smart, smart and ready for both city streets and dirt trails.
But here is the thing: Although production begins soon in Italy, Jeep has not said if Compass EV is coming to America. And the signs are not promising.
Plans to build it in Canada were recently deployed, with delayed production now by at least 2026. Some of them may have to do with potential US tariffs for Canadian and Mexican vehicles – adding a layer of uncertainty to all participation.
According to Kelley Blue Book, a spokesman for Stellantis confirmed that the company “has temporarily banned work on the next generation Jeep Compass, including activities in the” Canadian plant originally intended to build the model. They added that Stellantis is “re -evaluating its product strategy in North America” to better match customer needs and demand for various energy options.
So, while Europe and other markets are preparing to get EV Compass soon, US drivers can be left waiting – or completely lost.
This is a shame because on paper, this electric jeep hits many sweet spots. Let’s hope he will find a way here.
