Title: To use social media for a National Festival (and learn how to deal online)

The speaker: Dr. Michael Eades (SAS)

Time: Tuesday 18 March 2015, 1 PM-2PM

Location: Room 243 (Senate House)

This week, our speaker Dr. Michael Eades (developed research) and as usual, we asked us to answer a few questions.

SAS: Hi Michael. Thank you for agreeing to talk to us. First, can you tell me a little more about yourself?

Michael: I was more often described as the School of Cultural and Social Bookmark Research of Developed Education, SAS ‘public engagement man. I do a variety of sas, as well as in the festival, first of all, including my own research in a box project, I am primarily the main performance for the public engagement activities: to become a human festival of humanities. Being a man is the only Humanities Festival of the Britain and in 2014 in more than 160 events in the country in the country of 100 universities and cultural organizations.

I first worked in the University of Philosophy and public engagement for more than two years in 2012, I look at the community and public engagement theories, so I find an incredibly rewarding way to investigate the research in the contexts directly applied. My projects in SAS in this field in the Senate House Library of academics ‘Human Library’ A ‘Human Library’ into a ‘Human Library’ included everything from Parkour to serve. All great fun!

SAS: How important do you think social media is on public engagement?

Michael: Really very important. Social media changes the way of interaction and communication of people – makes people behind ideas and people more accessible. However, some serious problems increase. As communication speeds and obstacles are broken, we must be very careful to keep a sense of perspective and work with new technologies.

Thus, both blogs and Twitter, especially the human festival, were very important to spread the word. We tried really hard to use them to build an online viewer and lovers of the festival. In fact, it is the “Humanities” army, which is watching our things online. We want full!

SAS: What can you expect from you in my social scientist?

Michael: I want to do two things in my social scientist session. First, in 2014, I will pass through some thoughts following a human social media strategy and after the following campaigns. These include some of the successes and some things that do not work well, as our ‘shelefies’ campaign in the fall of 2015.

The second thing I want to do is try to collect some ideas about the audience what we can do to become human campaigns in 2015. It’s always good to make a little brainstorm for projects like this … please come with some ideas! Unfortunately, I can’t steal them, but they will help people increase public awareness. This is what the festival is there and a good reason.
