Finding Uncle Opani was not difficult. He perfectly coincided with Anna’s description. Tall, with a large belly, ash gray hair, curved mustaches and a brown leather jacket. It stands right in front of the railway station building.

“Thank you for coming.” Victor gripped his hand. “Taxis now cost their weight in gold. I’m not sure how Anna managed to find you.”

“No worries.” Uncle Opani smiled. “Anna and I go back. If her family needed something, I’m always ready to help. Before I was a minibus driver on the 203 road … I tried to join the army several times, but I was rejected for my age. I am now voluntary. I have helped to take out several families from the war zone in the east.”

“Impressive,” Victor said. “How is the situation here in Kyiv?”

“Very dangerous.” Uncle Opena shrugged. “Many residents try to get out before the Russian army goes out here. Did you hear the residents just destroyed Mriya.”

“Mriya? There is no way!” Victor gasped, feeling a pinch in her heart. He had seen Mriya (Dream), the largest cargo plane in the world, on television many times. It was not just a plane. It was the symbol of Ukraine of freedom and hope.

“Unfortunately, it’s true,” said Uncle Opatas grimly. “But do you know what? No one can destroy a Ukrainian dream. Neither the Russian army nor anyone else. It will fly again. It will live. And we will fight and liberate our land.”

They stood for a minute of silence, with each of them thinking about the difficult times on them.
