Helping the liberals get out of their own path.

Klein, a New York Times Colonist and Thompson, Atlantic Employee, lean on the left, but they do not question the usual suspects. Realizing that many conservatives have no interest in their opinions, the authors are aimed at “pathologies of their own country.” Why do red countries Greenlight The type of renewable energy projects that often disappear in blue states? Why does liberal California have the most serious accessibility crises and housing housing? One big reason: Liberal leadership has embedded in a network of well -meaning but often heavy “goals, standards and rules”. This “procedural Kludge”, partially formed by lawyers who created a strategy for “court democracy” in the 1960s, threatens to stimulate the key breaks. Consider the laws of combating the pollution adopted after World War II. Over the decades, then the groups of homeowners in liberal areas have been cited such statutes in court cases designed to stop new homes at affordable prices. Today, these laws “block the clean energy projects” necessary to deal with climate change. Nuclear energy is “undoubtedly more favorable” than the variety of fossil fuels, but since Washington does not always “properly weigh the risk”, it almost never builds new reactors. Meanwhile, technologies that can cure the disease or reduce the carbon footprint of cement production, take advantage of state support, but too often the grant process “rewards caution and punishes external thinking.” The authors call this style of governing the “liberalism of everything it is called because of their many government mandates. Instead, they predict a” policy of abundance “that would process travel, work and health. This will not happen without “changing the processes that make construction and inventing so difficult.” Then it is time to study everything from the rules for zoning municipalities to the requirements for documents for scientists receiving federal funding. The authors’ debut as a duet is very smart and extremely useful.
