How to deal with a disorganized teacher: 6 tips for students

Shocker, but not all teachers are organized. Some people forget to post the assignments. Some take forever to give feedback or degree examination. Some details given data without saying anyone.
And while it’s easy to blame a bad grade or an unreasonable term on your disorganized teacher, that’s the business: You can’t fix your teacher.
Your job is to protect your naades, the time, and your systems, even when chaos the chaos of the profit is going to school than one to be.

1. Accept disorganization. (Don’t fight it.)
If you consider your teacher to change, suddenly, you are already direction, turning the work, or the portal update when you should be frustrated.
Stop waiting for things to be different. Let the expectation stays your mental energy and keeps you in a cycle of blame. (Yes we know that it’s his fault, but that doesn’t help you or change things.)
Instead, recognize the situation for what is. Your disorganized teacher has not giving the structure you need, so you need to create yourself. More about it in Tip # 4.

2. Over-Document All.

Here’s how to protect you:
- Take the screenshots of all the instructions or assignment ads.
- Maintain separate (digitally or physical) folder) for the class where you stand all screenshots.
- Write Down Dates The Moments Have Citated in class or published at the portal, even if they are “attempted.”
- Log in any point of the last minute to the assignments or expectations.
- If something has said in class, summarize and mail to yourself or drop in a notes app.
It’s a pain, yes. But a five second screenshot today can save you from a degree of gradation later. Even if you never return to these screenshots or documents, you give you security that if a teacher changes something of the last minute or forget what they have back evidence.
3. Ask the questions first and in writing.

Thank you for the speaker of me on the book assignment of the book. I just want to confirm what we talked: is due on Monday, not Friday, correct? And we’re focusing more on the topic than on character development? Thank you for clarification. I just want to make sure I’m on track.
This puts responsibility for clarity where you belong to your conversation track in case you need later.
4. Building your own structures and systems.
If your master disorganized doesn’t give you structure, you need to build your own. Below are some ideas.
- Create your own fake gods. I know this is odd, but you can work when a teacher has a habit of changing date of dating without very notice. If you think an assignment is already wednesday, get on tuesday, just in case the teacher pulls a fast.
- Check your student portal daily. Ideal, twice a day, enter your portal and scan the portal for any new assignments, planning, or wander the expectations you need to clarify.
- Use a assignment notebook. Your student portal is not enough as a job planner because you can’t add your tasks and work on it. Pulling assignments from your portal and writes in your home planner (only abbreviate), along with your other tasks you need to treat as a student. 5. Create a strategic class class chat.
If your teacher disorganization leaves you confused you, you probably not the only one. So it can be of useful to create a class group chat so you’re not treated with the chaos by yourself. Use group chat to:
- Confirm DATE DATE
- Compare assignment instructions
- Share of the memories or clarify what you were told in class
This group chat can also serve as documentation other people experience the same problems. For example, if you think that heard the teacher to tell you your being due Friday, but the data teacher “(in your book messages also heard that other students Friday. This strategy supports # 2 above.
6. Communicate when something goes wrong.

Show maturity, responsibility, and effort toward clarity. These are all the things that help you and it your teacher. This type of message also gives your master a foolish way to solve the problem, that increases your own person’s odds.

Here’s another common example: You hand in a grant on paper – physically by your teacher – but later say they don’t. You haven’t kept a digital copy. You haven’t taken a picture. It’s just … gone.
It’s successful but your goal is to get credit for the work you have already done, not to return. This is how to handle this situation in a well-communicated email:
Hi Mrs. R, I’m followed on the assignment from last Thursday. I have been handed in the paper copy during class. I remember putting on your desk. I don’t have another version, but you wanted to check and see how we can solve this since I did the work in time.
This type of message communicates two things:
- You are not backing. You insert you did the job and I turned it in.
- You are professional. You are not accusing but you are still volunteers to reduce work.
If you are dealing with a fair teacher you’ll probably give you the benefit of the doubt, or at least find a reasonable solution. If it comes to a fair teacher less than fair, then at least you have created documentation that sustains your case if you need to climb.
And you are, going forward? Take photographs of physical assignments … just in case.
Bottom line on disorganized teachers: control what you can.
You don’t need your teacher to be perfect. (They will not be.) You do not need their portal to be impeccable oe so expect to be crystal every time. (Will not be.)
