Skype closes today while Microsoft transition users in teams

By marking the end of an era, it can see Skype’s pension, Microsoft’s beloved and beloved messaging and loving messages. Skype’s death has passed a long time, with the elderly platform trying to maintain the pace with the competition, and now the latest rites can be read. Today, May 5, is the day Microsoft attracts the outlet.
The writing was on the Skype wall as soon as Microsoft began developing teams, and this is exactly where the company hopes for former Scribe users to switch to. But while the payment and payment of Skype users of Skype will have to find a new home, Skype for business lives in … for now.

While the end of the messaging service will look like a great time to start looking further and looking for a replacement from another provider, Microsoft is much hoping that the user will simply move on to free Microsoft teams. The company is making the transfer process as fast and painlessly as possible, but admits that switch may mean missing some known features:
Skype users will have the opportunity to move to Microsoft Teams Free, which offers many of the same essential and more features. Sign in free Microsoft teams on any device supported using Skype credentials and your contacts and conversations will automatically be transferred. You will also get a notice on the Skype app making you take action to migrate your data.
Although the data transfer should help to facilitate the transition to teams, there is something that will not migrate beyond:
- Conversations between Skype users and work teams or school accounts will not be migrated. Users can use free teams to start a new conversation with work teams or school users and enjoy even more functionality.
- Skype to Skype about the history of business conversations will not be migrated.
- 1: 1 The conversation with the story itself will not be migrated.
- Private conversation data will not be migrated.
- The contents of Kopilot and Bots will not rely on free teams and no conversation story will be available.
Today may be the day Skype leaves, but that doesn’t mean the conversation and user data are immediately deleted. Microsoft says:
Your Skype data will be available by January 2026 for you to export or delete. If you enter Microsoft’s teams for free by then, your Skype call and the story of the conversation will be available to you. If you do not take any action, your Skype data will be deleted January 2026.
Microsoft says anyone who does not want to use free Microsoft teams can export their Skype data.
