One of the most important parts of a story, every story, is to make the audience eradicate for the main character. Or at least let’s understand them. Their motivation, their purpose and why they make the decisions they make, all contribute to the audience that feels invested in their journey wherever it takes them away. That is why we sometimes eradicate ourselves to the villain more than the “hero” because we understand why they do what they do, even if we do not agree with their actions.
Nothing fits into this more than thrillers for revenge! What is easier to understand from the wrong character who seeks revenge? What is more exciting than the character who takes revenge that they fought so desperately? Who is more sympathetic than, say, John Wick, who seeks revenge for the murder of the dog that his deceased wife gave him, or a classically quoted Liam Neeson while fighting to save his abducted daughter? We have all been wrong before, we fantas about the small revenge we would get from revenge, and the thrillers of revenge raise him to the extreme. There is nothing more satisfying than the bad guys is due.
If you are in the mood for a satisfactory story of revenge or two, look at these eight delightfully turning pages thrillers for revenge!
